Rainbow Mountains in Peru are the second most visited attraction after Machu Picchu. Cusco, the former capital of the Incas is home to two iconic Rainbow Mountains, Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, and Palccoyo Cusco.
1 Day Trek to Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain is an easier option. Often known as the alternative Rainbow Mountain, on this full-day tour we will be driving you to a section pretty closer to the summit. From the starting point, it is 45 minutes to an hour’s trek (1.5 km/0.9 miles each way) to the summit.
On the way to the summit, you will be passing through some peculiar stone formations. It also goes through a section where you will see many Andean Camelids – Alpacas, Llamas and Vicuñas.
Also, you will also get a closer view of the “Apu” Ausangate. This is the tallest peak in the region. It is sacred to the Andean people.
Palccoyo Cusco is a part of the Ausangate Mountain range. It is, however, not so popular attraction as Vinicunca, so often visitors experience these pristine sights in solace.
To enhance the life of locals and to offer you a hint of life in the remote Andes, we often take a local community member with us. We operate this tour both in small groups and private tours.
Rainbow Mountains are among the most photographed sites in Peru. You can also read plenty of Travel Blogs online.
