We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco at around 0600 AM. Then in our private transport we will drive you through Sacred Valley of Incas to Malaga Pass. Also known as Abra Malaga, it sits at (4,316 metres above sea level).

The real experience begins here. Our guide will give you a short briefing and will share safety instructions. Then our crew will give you the downhill mountain bikes with all gears. Once you are kitted with all appropriate gears before commencing the three hours down-hill biking to the town of Humanmarca (about 34 miles or 55 km).

During the bike ride, you will be witnessing the beauty of snow capped peaks at a distance. The climate would be varied, changing from dry, colt to humid-heat.

From Humanmarca, we will continue our journey in our mini van for approximately 30 minutes to the town of Santa Maria. At Santa Maria, we will stop for lunch. After having lunch, you will have an option of doing rafting (level III and IV, during April to November) in the Urubamba River. It crosses through part of the Inka jungle. The rafting price (100 Soles) is not the part of the tour price.

After breakfast, at 0600 AM we will start trekking to Santa Teresa. The first part of the trek goes up the hill for around two hours. On the way we will have many stops to catch up with your breath and our guide would give you an insight on the rich flora and fauna those are exclusive to the region.

We will also be stopping in a local community house where you could refill your water bottle and savour some tropical fruits.

We will then cross a section of the renowned Inca Trail to Machu Picchu that connects Machu Picchu to Vilcabamba city. Our guide would give you more insights into the Incan history and would explain the communication system that existed during the Incan empire. Here you will also be rewarded with amazing views of Huancarccasa Canyon.

From here, we will begin our descend to a small town, Quellomayo. Here, we will stop for lunch and you can also wink a nap on the hammocks. We will then continue trekking for two hours to Cocalmayo. It is an Andean village popular for the natural hot springs, Cocalmayo Hot Springs.

Here you can take a dip and rejuvenate. From Cocalmayo we will continue further to Santa Teresa where we will have dinner and spend the night.

You will have an option of doing canopy zip-lining (100 Soles). If not, we will start our trek towards the base town of Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes. It would be a three hours walk through Aobamba Valley until we reach the Intihuana area. Here we will be passing a check point.

Along the way, we will stop for lunch. The route to Aguas Calientes would reward you with a series of water falls and sights of Machu Picchu and Huyana Picchu.

We will be continuing our Inca Jungle Trail along the railway lines for two hours until we would reach Aguas Calientes town where we would be spending the night.

We will start early in the morning from the hotel in Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. We will try to be early to witness the sun rising over the mortar walls of the renowned Incan citadel.

At 04:30 in the morning, we will start hiking uphill from Aguas Calientes. You will have an option of hiking the 1,500 steps built by Incas or alternatively take the 20 minutes bus ride for USD 12. Once inside the citadel, our guide would give you a complete guided tour of Machu Picchu.

On this two hours tour, you will be visiting some of the prime sites of the citadel. The tour starts next to the farming terraces, you will then visit the ceremonial center, remains of Inca temples, Inca clock, and more.

After the guided tour of the archaeological sites, you will have some free time to walk around and immerse yourself in the tranquility of Machu Picchu.

If you have booked to hike Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu mountain, the tour guide will be directing you to the respective trail head.

At an agreed time, we will be meeting at the train station in Aguas Calientes where you be boarding the train to Ollantaytambo and onward road transfer back to your hotel/hostel in Cusco.

We were excited for this trip. Jose was our guide. He is a gem of a person with an extensive experience and knowledge as he knew everything and every route. The trip was adrenaline filled, the mountain biking was the best part. Encuentros has well maintained bikes and gears and we were well taken care off and well fed throughout the tour. The trip up to Machu Picchu was phenomenal too. We highly recommend them
