Lake Sandoval Peru Tour of two days is one of our most sold tours. This tour is ideal for those wanting to explore the best of nature and culture in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest in a short time.
Our two days Lake Sandoval Peru tour will be led by one of our naturalist guides who was born and raised in Tambopata National Reserve. Our guides have an excellent knowledge about the flora and fauna.
We have designed the itinerary to offer you more than the jungle experience. On your two days Lake Sandoval Amazon travel, you will also be experiencing a canopy walk, zip line and the world’s largest clay licks – Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick. Our Amazon Jungle Lodge is located amidst the rain forest.
The clay lick in Tambopata National Park is one of the unmissable sights, you will be spotting different species of macaws, parrots and parakeets. This includes red bellied macaws and other large macaws.
Waters of Lago Sandoval are relatively clearer than the Madre de Dios river. Lake Sandoval is serene and countless species of birds, animals and reptiles inhabit here. This includes a family of giant river otters, black caimans, butterflies, hoatzins and more.
Our action packed two days Lake Sandoval Peru experience will give you the best experience of the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest.
Puerto Maldonado Airport Transfer
Depending on flight time
Our crew will be picking you up from the airport or bus terminal on your arrival and will be driving you to our city office. Here you can leave your belongings that you may not need while touring the Lake Sandoval.
We will then drive you in our 4X4 to the boat pier. Here we will be embarking on a scenic boat ride to our Sandoval Lake lodge. On this short boat ride, you will witness the biodiversity of the Amazon Rainforest and Amazon Basin.
After relishing a typical Amazonian lunch we will start the full day Lake Sandoval Tour by visiting the Monkey Island. This is one of the unique places in the rainforest, as the name suggests, Monkey Island is home to 13 species of monkeys. Our local expert will be explaining to you about the life of different breeds of monkeys that inhabit here.
We will then take the rowing boat and head to the part of the jungle where we will be doing a canopy walk. You will have a spectacular view of the entire rainforest from the tree top. Once you have had your fill of this activity, we will return to the lodge for dinner.
Our chef will be serving a delicious and a native Amazonian meal for dinner. After dinner, we will be heading out for a night walk for about 50 minutes to spot some nocturnal animals, snakes and alligators.
We will be leaving from the lodge early in the morning on our motor boat to Chuncho located in the Madre de Dios river to see the Macaws Clay Lick. This is one of the unmissable sights in Tambopata.
Hundreds of different species of macaws and parrots flock in early in the morning to eat the clay from the cliff. The clay here contains a distinct mineral salt which helps them to remove toxins from their body. After this, we will be returning to the lodge for breakfast.
After breakfast, we will be crossing the Madre de Dios river to hike three kilometres. Our guide will be explaining about the rich biodiversity of the lush Amazon rainforest on this tour.
We will be walking along the Lake Sandoval rimmed with palm trees, which is a paradise for nature lovers. Here you will be able to see the rich flora and fauna. The lake is also inhabited by nearly extinct giant otters and big caimans.
After witnessing the enchanting beauty of nature, we will have lunch and return to the lodge to checkout. In the evening, we will be taking the boat back to the city of Puerto Maldonado. Our crew will be meeting you at the boat pier and will transfer you to the airport or bus terminal.
