Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu tour from Cusco offers a great insight of Incan civilization. It is a two days guided tour from Cusco. We begin this two days tour with an introduction to the way of life of Incas in the Sacred Valley. The tour culminates at the lost city of Incas, Machu Picchu.
The two days tour is the most preferred one by many travellers. You will get to see both the prime sites of Incas without any hassle.
The valley was sacred to Incas as this was the main source of food to them. It has the most fertile soil in Southern Peru. The Incas experimented the growth conditions of crops at different temperate zones here. Moray agricultural terraces are a good example of this. It is because of the advancement in the farming techniques of Incas, the country is home to 4000 variety of Potatoes and over 50 variety of corns.
Most communities in the valley are untouched with modernity. You will be having a closer look at the Andean culture on this tour.
This Inca City is now one of the seven world wonders. Pachacutec ordered the construction of Machu Picchu as his royal estate. The citadel was home to 750 families. Most of them worked for the royal families. Unlike most royal estates, Machu Picchu did not pass down in the line of succession.
It was abandoned after using for 80 years. It was primarily because of Spanish invasion. On this full day tour of Machu Picchu, you will be introduced to different sites in the citadel that was significant to Incas.
The farming terraces are impressive. They are a testament to the advancement of Inca architecture. They built them on a slope of a hill to safeguard the citadel from landslides.
Although Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley are at a much lower altitude than Cusco, we highly recommend you to spend atleast two days acclimatising in Cusco before the tour. This would help you to avoid altitude sickness.
